Paul Shane McCool, 46, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at noon Thursday at his residence on a charge of engaging in theft of property valued at $2,500-$30,000.

Deputies were reportedly given information about stolen property being housed at a property on County Road 3502. Deputies made contact with Mc-Cool, who reportedly advised he was renting the residence and had lived there only a few weeks. The property owner was contacted and reportedly gave consent to search the property to locate stolen items.

While searching the property, deputies reportedly located a cargo trailer which was confirmed by the Dallas Police Department to be stolen. The trailer contained approximately $10,000 worth of new car parts that were also reported stolen. The trailer was valued at approximately $4,000, bringing the approximate value of the items to $14,000.

The stolen property was recovered and transported to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Deputies determined through further investigation three or more subjects were involved with the theft, transfer and concealment of the stolen property.

McCool reportedly did not provide deputies with information that would lead them to believe he was not in possession of the allegedly stolen items. He was taken into custody and charged with engaging in theft of property $2,500-$30,000. No bond was set, and McCool remained in jail as of press time Friday, according to arrest and jail reports.
