North Hopkins students accept school scholarship

NORTH HOPKINS — Eleven years ago, Dustin Clements was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. He was a 2007 graduate of North Hopkins ISD and an employee of the school.

His parents and friends wanted to honor him, and so established the Dustin Clements Memorial Scholarship. Each year since his death, students have been invited to complete an application in order to receive $1,000 toward their future education. The 2020 recipients are Ashley Aguilar and Dylan Nguyen.

Ashley Aguilar is the daughter of Alma Aguilar. She has been involved in all aspects of campus life participating in BETA, Student Council, FFA, Varsity volleyball and basketball. She was also the Hopkins County Fall Festival Cover Girl for 2018-2019. Ashley Aguilar plans to attend Paris Junior College, and then transfer to University of Texas - Tyler, majoring in Health Science.

Dylan Nguyen is the son of Scotty and Cindy Nguyen. He also has been very active in campus activities, participating in varsity basketball, baseball and golf and has been a member of BETA. He is the recipient of the Blue and Gold Scholarship for Texas A&M - Commerce. Dylan plans to attend PJC and later transfer to TAMUC, majoring in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine.
