Lack of cooks reason for partial closure
Meal A Day, a program offering meals to senior citizens, may close Wednesdays and Thursdays due to a lack of cooks, according to Senior Citizen’s Center Program Director Karon Weatherman.
“We have been begging for help for about 3 months, and no has answered the call,” Weatherman said. “One or two just can’t cook for 160 people. If you can spare some time to help us, please let me know as soon as possible.”
Weatherman added the program needs a driver for Como and Pickton for Wednesdays starting next week.
The Sulphur Springs Senior Citizen’s Center is located at 150 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Contact Weatherman at 903-885-1661.
Meal A Day is funded through donations and delivers cooked meals at $2 each to seniors who are unable to leave their residence Monday-Friday.
