Marijuana allegedly found in sock

Body

Gregory Lynn Hill, 35, of Memphis, Tenn. was arrested 6:28 p.m. Thursday on charges of tampering with physical evidence, unlawful carry of a weapon, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and possession of a drug test falsification device.

Hill was a passenger in a vehicle allegedly stop for a reported defective license plate light, and upon contact, the state trooper allegedly detected fresh marijuana and asked all occupants to exit the vehicle. Hill allegedly reported to the trooper he “had smoked all the marijuana” and there was reportedly a weapon in seat pocket in front of his seat.

During the search, a county deputy arrived on-scene and reportedly located a sock which the trooper wrote “had been thrown there recently as it was clean and had no grass or debris on it” and “matched the socks which Hill was currently wearing.” The sock allegedly contained marijuana, and all occupants reportedly denied all knowledge of it.

The trooper allegedly located a marijuana shake in the floorboard where Hill had been sitting, and the alleged firearm was located. In Hill’s backpack, the trooper also reportedly found a bottle containing synthetic urine. When asked, Hill allegedly admitted to intending to use the urine to pass a drug test at work.

Hill was then arrested and booked in at the Hopkins County Jail without incident, and no bond was set.
