Christmas

Sulphur Springs is about to sparkle with the festive glow of holiday cheer, as the Lions Club Lighted Christmas Parade makes its 12th annual appearance in the downtown area on Friday, Dec. 6.

The parade begins at 7 p.m. and will take a different route than previously due to construction on Connally Street. This year, the parade starts at Buford Park, making its way down Houston Street, turning on to Church Street and continuing on the west side of Celebration Plaza. The parade route continues on to Gilmer Street and ends at Tapps Funeral Home.

Participants are encouraged to park in areas between Gilmer Street and Oak Avenue. Volunteers will be on hand to help guide parking.

Many local businesses will make an appearance in the parade, and Santa will be present as well, courtesy of Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement’s Blue Santa program.

Santa and Ms. Claus will be present before the parade at Celebration Plaza’s lighted Christmas tree for photo opportunities and to give children the chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas this year.
