Since opening their doors for training in July 2017, Highlander Training Center (HTC) has provided a free on-site lunch for all team members once each month as part of team building and employee-appreciation efforts.

“This is a part of our ongoing efforts to offer continuing education to our team members at Highlander Training Center so we can provide the best care to each individual horse, as well as premium customer service to our clients,” said Jeff Hooper, chairman and CEO of HTC.

After training was done for the day on Jan. 31, HTC provided a meal from Slaughter’s BBQ for employees, while Dr. Luis Morales and Dr. Ali Broyles (veterinarians from ESMS in Weatherford) each gave a presentation and answered questions. They explained and discussed common injuries in racehorses, and how HTC team members (from grooms to riders to facilities maintenance personnel) can be quick to identify any issues.

Dr. Morales conducted his session first in Spanish followed by Dr. Broyles giving the same presentation in English. The presentations included detailed slides on a big screen TV.

“Everyone participated and was very engaged. We appreciate Dr. Broyles and Dr. Morales putting together such a comprehensive program, and we look forward to continuing and expanding these lunch-and-learn sessions in the coming months,” Hooper said.
