The Hopkins County Hospital District Friday announced they will no longer provide updates on COVID-19 testing and screening, according to a statement from EMS Director Brent Smith.

“None of the facilities or private entities are required to provide information to the Hospital District, and it has become next to impossible to accurately gather the number of tests being performed by area healthcare providers,” the statement read.

Additionally, The various types of tests available, including molecular, antigen and antibody, and lack of standard reporting and gathering of information are among the reasons for the decision.

“The Hopkins County Local Health Authority under appointment by the Hopkins County Commissioners Court are (sic) working with the local cases in Hopkins County to ensure procedures are being followed with the related cases,” the Hospital District said.

Citizens of Hopkins County are reminded to continue practicing proper hand washing and social distancing, and wear masks.

Anyone with questions about screening or guidance is asked to contact their physician or call 903-606-3627. For those short of breath or experiencing other breathing problems, call 911.
