Heat index values between 105 and 110 are expected for most of northeast Texas, according to the National Weather Service, and Hopkins County is under a heat advisory for Wednesday.

From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, Hopkins County will be under a heat advisory, along with nearby counties Delta, Hunt, Rains, Franklin and Van Zandt.

Hot weather will continue through the weekend with heat indices exceeding 105 degrees each afternoon, the National Weather Service stated. There will be an elevated fire weather threat during the afternoon hours Thursday through Sunday, according to the NWS.

The chance of heat and brush fires drops on Sunday as there is a chance of thunderstorms across Northeast Texas late Sunday through Tuesday, the NWS stated.

The chance of thunderstorms exists for areas north and east of a Bonham to Canton, according to the NWS. Gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning will be the main threats, the NWS said.
