On Thursday, July 18, a Hopkins County veteran will be presented with a Quilt of Valor.

Catherine Roberts started the Quilts of Valor Foundation in 2003, while her son was deployed to Iraq. In a dream one night, Roberts claims she saw a young man surrounded by war demons transformed by a quilt. She came up with the idea to have volunteers make beautiful quilts to be awarded to military veterans.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.

The presentation will take place at the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial in downtown Sulphur Springs at 11:30 a.m.
