The Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce announced the 2020 winners of the World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest that was held this morning at Buford Park in Sulphur Springs.

Campsite and costume winner this year was site # 77 Phillip Gabbert, sponsored by VFW Post 8560. Their $200 prize was provided by Super Handy.

The John Chester Award for Super Campsite winner was site #111 Wade Juarez, sponsored by: Diamond Bar J. Their $250 prize was provided by: Sulphur Springs Centre for Dance.

Honorable Mention: Beef Stew: #81 Chris Holt, sponsored by: Abboe’s Collision Center.

Third place beef stew winner was the team of # 350 Jay Johnson and Rosemary Johnson, sponsored by: Martin Marietta. Their $100 prize money was provided by State Representative Dan Flynn. Their third-place stew was purchased for $250 by Texas Farm Credit.                            

Second place beef stew winner was the team of #358 Whitney Preas and Wendall Preas, sponsored by:  B & T's Tacos & Catering. Their $150 prize money was provided by Hampton Inn. Their second-place stew was purchased for $ 450.00 by Texas Heritage National Bank.

First place beef stew winner was the team of # 123 Brent Williams and Andrea Adeyanjie, sponsored by: Bulkley Trucking. Their $300.00 prize money was provided by C-n-C Pro A/V. Their first-place stew was purchased for $600.00 by Dr. Liao Orthopedic Center

Honorable Mention: Chicken Stew: # 430 Ethan Boatman and Toby Boatman, sponsored by: Toby Boatman Garage Doors

Third place chicken winner was the team of #109 Sue Orwosky and Jamie Young, sponsored by: Murray Orwosky Funeral Home. Their prize money of $100.00 was provided by Jiffy Signs. Their third-place stew was purchased for $250.00 by Summit Dental.

Second place chicken stew winner was the team of #133 Jeannie Dickson and Judy Temples, sponsored by:  Davis Street Baptist Church. Their prize money of $150.00 was provided by Hampton Inn. Their second-place chicken stew was purchased for $450.00 by Legacy Ag Credit.

First place chicken stew winner was the team of #89 Brad Irving and Leah Irving, sponsored by: Ocean Spray Cranberries. Their prize money of $300.00 was provided by Professional Land & Title and Robinson Bennet Construction. Their first-place chicken stew was purchased for $600.00 by Legacy Ag Credit

1st Place Super Stew Beef winner was the team of #362 Richard Brantley and Ashley Brantley, sponsored by: American Towing and Tire. Their prize money of $500.00 was provided by Peoples Communications. Their winning quart of Super Stew Beef was purchased for $900.00 by Clayton Homes.
