3 new events added
The 14th annual Help-A-Child Benefit will look a little different this year as it kicks off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with a new cattle show as chili pots simmer for the contest.
The steer and heifer show is a firsttime event and is open to exhibitors of all ages. Cash prizes will be given to division winners, and buckles will be awarded to grand and reserve champion steers and heifers. The show starts at 9 a.m.
A bit like last year, there will be a chili cook-off, but there will also be awards given in a brisket and pinto bean contest. The food will be served to the general public for $10 all-youcan-eat starting at 11 a.m.
The Ira Black FFA Shop Project Show and Auction will also be held with awards being announced at 12:30 p.m.
After the auction, a corn hole tournament will be held, another new event for this year’s Help-A-Child Benefit. Registration is now open, and pre-registration can done through the SCOREHOLIO app by searching for Help-A-Child Benefit. Pre-registration is preferred not but not required. Cash prizes will be awarded. It should start around 1:30 p.m.
Photo opportunities and rides on a carriage pulled by Clydesdale horses will be also be available through the day.
The benefit is also raffling off a 2021 Polaris Ranger 500 4x4 with bumper pull trailer. The trailer was custom built by Como-Pickton FFA.
