Tree to be up Nov. 16

Body

The Golden Agers Gift Tree will be up at the Sulphur Springs Seniors Center by Monday, Nov. 16 for people looking to adopt a senior citizen for Christmas.

“I wasn’t going to do a tree this year, and I thought, of all the years, this year is when seniors need something special in their lives,” director Karon Weatherman said. “They have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to do something to brighten their Christmas.”

When picking up a name from the tree, masks are encouraged.

Weatherman asks adopters to wait until Dec. 7 before bringing back the name and gift. Gifts should be wrapped or in a large bag labeled with the senior’s name. Adopters can deliver the gifts themselves or drop them off at the Senior Center before Dec. 18.

For more information, call Weatherman at 903-885-1661 or email her at mealaday@yahoo.com. The Sulphur Springs Senior Center is located at 150 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
