Several walk away with buckles
The future of agriculture took to the show ring as hundreds of students gathered at the Hopkins County Civic Center to participate in the Northeast Texas Livestock Association's annual show last week.
With five animals, Hopkins County 4-H students walked away with the most earning Grand Champion or Reserve Champion. Sulphur Springs FFA had the second-most with three, and the rest were split between other county schools. The results are as follows:

Canyon Thomas, Como-Pickton FFA – Grand Champion

Abbie Melton, Hopkins County 4-H – Grand Champion
Savannah Allen, Sulphur Springs FFA – Reserve Champion
Out of the students picked for best showmanship, Hopkins County 4-H students again took the most buckles with nine, and Sulphur Springs FFA and Como-Pickton FFA had the second and third highest with four and two students respectively. The results are as follows:

The ag mechanics show was held last Tuesday as well, and Como-Pickton FFA earned the grand champion title with their squeeze chute. Cumby FFA earned the reserve title with their skid steer bucket, and Saltillo ISD student Caleb Harris was named best in Showmanship.
