Wintry weather has made its way to Hopkins County, and the forecast is predicting more below-freezing temperatures and wintry precipitation.

Wednesday night’s freezing temperatures and wet roads led to icy driving conditions this week.

This weekend, Sulphur Springs may experience freezing drizzle during the day Saturday, and a slight chance of snow and sleet Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 30% chance of snow Sunday; after midnight, snow is likely with a predicted low of 14 degrees.

There is also a likely chance of snow Monday morning, with a high near 17 degrees.

According to the local office of the National Weather Service, 3-8 inches of snow accumulation is possible, and a wind-chill could get as low as -15 degrees. Heavy and blowing snow is possible, as well as “bitter cold” and “near-blizzard conditions.”

Strong wind is expected, and travel conditions are predicted to be hazardous.

Wednesday sees another prediction of snow, with a mix of freezing rain, with a high near 32 degrees.
