A 28-year-old man was arrested by Cumby police officers during a traffic stop at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on the FM 275 overpass in Cumby on multiple charges.

Cpl. Zack Steward was on routine patrol on Interstate 30 east when he reportedly observed a maroon van traveling eastbound. As Steward entered the interstate near the 109 mile marker, the van reportedly sped up in an attempt to lose him. The driver allegedly exited at the 110 exit, traveling on the eastbound service road at a high rate of speed before turning onto the FM 275 overpass loop heading toward Frisco Street. Cpl. Steward continued to catch up to the van and reportedly observed the driver crash into the ditch after going over the overpass.

During a probable cause search, Cpl. Steward reportedly located a bottle of Powerhouse Labs steroids and two small baggies of marijuana.

Steward reportedly suspected the driver had tossed something out of the vehicle prior to the crash. A plastic shopping bag containing more marijuana and the man's wallet containing his driver's license was located on the service road.

Cortney Martavius Ivory of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, tampering with evidence and possession of less than 28 grams of a Penalty Group 3 controlled substance. Bond was set at $8,000, and Ivory remained in jail as of press time Friday, according to reports.
