CUMBY—Two people at a Country Road 4129 residence in Cumby had allegedly been drinking alcohol Tuesday evening. The 49-year-old man called to report his “wife is verbally threatening him,” according to dispatch call records.

Hopkins County Sheriff ’s deputies reported they attempted to separate the couple to different households “by locating a family member or friend who lived nearby;” however, the pair allegedly claimed “neither of them had any family or friends nearby to stay the night with,” the report read. The deputy further stated in his report that the couple allegedly agreed to stay in separate parts of the residence and “have no contact for the rest of the night.”

After deputies left, the man called dispatch again, claiming his wife had assaulted him.

Deputies returned to the home and reported they saw the man “to have red scratch marks on his chest and blood on his left upper chest area.”

The woman was arrested on the charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member. Deputies filed for a 24-hour hold and emergency protective order, according to the arrest report.
