The school week is looking a little bit different for the students at Cumby ISD.

The Cumby ISD school board voted Jan. 14 to switch from a 5-day week to a 4.5-day week, with Friday school dismissal scheduled for 12:30 p.m. for students who do not need to be there the full day.

“Students will still be on campus on Fridays and those who need to be there the full day will be staying,” said superintendent Shelly Slaughter. “Students will be involved in tutoring, homework help, and making up missed time while teachers will be collaborating and working on remote learning and with remote learners.”

The new schedule began last week and will continue on until the end of the school year.

The district will also be holding a community meeting Saturday, Jan. 30 via Zoom to discuss master planning and possible May 2021 Bond election.
