The City of Cumby experienced a water main break, and now some homes have low water pressure, according to city officials.

On July 15, the city began to experience a water leak at an unknown location, according to council member Julie Isham Morris. By July 16 the leak was fixed, according to Mayor Doug Simmerman. Isham Morris stated on social media the city was unsure where the leak was or what caused it in the first place.

On July 24, the city experienced water problems as maintenance staff replaced a fire hydrant on Depot Street.

“Kudos to our maintenance department,” said Simmerman.

On July 29, the city reported a water main break which “emptied the water tower,” according to Isham Morris on social media.

Due to the tower trying to fill back up, everyone is experiencing low water pressure,” Isham Morris stated. “The city is asking everyone to please conserve as much water as possible so the tower will have a chance to fill.”

The city does not currently plan to put a boil water notice in effect, they stated.
