Final agreement to be considered at later date

Body

To be in line with the tax code, the Como-Pickton CISD Board of Trustees approved the reinvestment zone for the Pine Forest solar farm in a Friday afternoon meeting, another step toward a final agreement.

"This [resolution] is just simply to designate as required by the tax code a reinvestment zone, which is required by this project to sit," Rick Lambert, attorney with Powell, Youngblood and Taylor law firm, said.

The board will decide on the final agreement for an appraised value limitation at a later date.

According to PY&T Director of Economic Development Shelly Leung, the project boundaries will lie inside the reinvestment zone. The reinvestment zone covers an area of 1,853 acres, according to board documents.

All members except Brittany Smith were present. Mark Humphrey recused himself due to a conflict of interest. In a September 2019 meeting where the board approved the project's initial application, Brittany Smith also recused herself due to a conflict of interest.

A public hearing was held prior to the board's consideration of the resolution, but no comments were heard from attendees.
