After approving any budget amendments, line item transfers and bill payments, the court will consider amending the county policy for employees hired and paid under the SAFER grant guidelines to ensure they will receive insurance benefits.

The SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) grant will allow the department to hire an additional firefighter for each shift and will cover 75% of their pay for two years before dropping to 35% coverage in the third year, according to Hopkins County Fire Chief Andy Endsley.
