Hopkins County Sheriff ’s deputies responded to a complaint about a possibly intoxicated driver on Interstate 30 westbound early Sunday morning. They reported finding the 46-year-old Corsicana man parked at the stop sign on the exit ramp at FM 369 north, allegedly with no lights on.

The deputy reported the man got out of the Audi he was driving and began pacing around it. The deputy further stated in his report he could smell alcohol on the man upon approaching him and alleged he saw an open container of alcohol in the rear passenger floorboard.

When the deputy attempted to conduct standard sobriety testing, the man allegedly claimed “he had medical conditions which would prevent him from performing [the] test.” The deputy stated in the report he attempted a test anyway but that the man allegedly “failed to follow the instructions given to perform [the] test.” The man is reported to have later agreed to a blood draw.

During the course of investigation, the man was discovered to have an active Harris County warrant for driving while intoxicated, second offense.

The man was arrested on the Harris County warrant, which bond was set at $5,000, and on the charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more offense.
