A Walk in the Park

This Saturday, Cooper Lake State Park will host a hiking event with some very special guests.

The public is invited to come out to meet and walk dogs from local shelters on the Cedar Creek and Coyote Run hiking trails inside the park. The dogs will be on leashes for the one mile long hike.

Please do not bring snacks or treats for the dogs as some may have sensitive stomachs.

The first hike is 10-11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23 at the South Sulphur Unit and will meet at the Heron Harbor day use area.

The second hike is 2-3:30 p.m. at the Doctor’s Creek Unit and will meet at the Pelican Point day use area.

Dog walkers must be age 13 or older. Participants are asked to bring water and wear weather-appropriate clothing.

Park programs are free with a park entrance fee of $5 per person age 13 and up. Children 12 and under are free.
