The Hopkins-Rains Soil and Water Conservation District #445 is hosting their Annual Hay Show, which goal is to support agriculture students in Hopkins and Rains counties.

The District states they recognize the importance of agriculture in the local economy and that the community must invest in area education. The purpose of the hay show is to establish a scholarship fund for local Future Farmers of America and 4-H programs.

All goals include encouraging local producers to test and know the quality of their feeds and meeting their livestock dietary needs, educating producers in best-management techniques and resulting forage quality, providing scholarship and education funds for area youth, and to support area youth education programs with workshops, conservation education and contests.

At the 2019 Annual Hay Show, Kyler Moore received the SWCD Agricultural Scholarship of $1,500.

This year’s hay show will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, 1200 Houston St. in Sulphur Springs. A barbecue lunch will start off the day, and the show will begin immediately after. All entries for the hay show should be submitted to Northeast Texas Farmers Co-op no later than Monday, Oct. 5.
