After speaking with local health authorities and out of “an abundance of caution,” Como-Pickton Consolidated Independent School District announced Tuesday afternoon that the annual Fall Festival is canceled for 2020.

School officials stated that the goal is to keep the school open for as long as possible this year, which “has been threatened a few times already…with the presence of COVID” on the district’s campus.

“We were holding off doing this as long as possible, hoping that we would not have to,” a statement released by the school read. “We are thankful for your constant support. Our school year is one sixth of the way over, and we couldn’t have gotten through it without your ongoing support.”

The district does plan on holding Fall Festival in 2021, they said.
