Keith Monk appointed to board
The Como-Pickton CISD board voted to allow the expansion of the parking lot and elementary entrance and appointed a new member at their Monday night meeting.
According to superintendent Dr. Greg Bower, the district was trying to find way to make the dismissal process safer for both parents and students. The parking area in front of the conference center should be enlarged to take more cars off the highway and into the pickup line.
Bower said the expansion should cost about $80,000.
Keith Monk was also appointed to the board in the seat formerly held by J. J. Cummings, who had been missing from previous meetings. Keith Monk will serve in that seat until the next school board elections in 2023.
In other items, Saundea Monk was recognized as the September Teacher of the Month. Kara Tifft was named the September High School Student of the Month, Jaylen Gillis the Junior High Student of the Month, and Donovan Hodge the Elementary Student of the Month.
