Magic World Circus will hold their debut performance in Sulphur Springs this week and will include one act that was featured on America’s Got Talent.

“The theme of the circus is Christmas, so everyone is going to be dressing for Christmas. It’s going to have that character of Christmas in the show,” said Jonathan Dominguez, 33, of Columbia, promoter for and performer with the circus.

Dominguez told the News-Telegram that while everyone in the troupe are seasons performers, this show they are putting on at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center grounds tomorrow is the first public show for them as a group.

A fifth generation circus performer, Dominguez said, “My dad is still doing it. … Probably the next generation is going to be our kids.”

He has a 1-year-old daughter, Larissa, and her mother, Priscilla Da Silva, 28, is a professional aerialist from Brazil who will be performing Wednesday.

The dog act, “Poodle Review,” that was featured on America’s Got Talent is headlined by Dominguez’s brother, Jorge, 37, and his family and will be part of Wednesday’s entertainment.

While the act didn’t win despite a standing ovation from the studio audience, Dominguez said it was an honor that they made it as far in the competition as they did.

“It’s hard. It’s really hard, especially since you have singers. They really look at that,” Dominguez said.

According to Jorge Dominguez in an interview with America’s Got Talent, the family started with four dogs and now have nine trained dogs that perform tricks with the family. Some of the dogs are rescues from the Dallas area. (To watch a video of the TV performance, go online to https://youtu.be/VBfaNzZtfH8.)

Along with the Poodle Review and Da Silva’s act, Dominguez said there will be jugglers, claws, an acrobat team, concessions and souvenirs. And, he said, he and four others will be riding motorcycles at speeds of over 65 miles per hour in the Ball of Steel/Globe of Death.

“This is our first show we’re going to do for Christmas. We’ve pulled a lot of talent together for this show,” he said.

The motorcycle dare devil team will be doing a special death-defying stunt, he said. But, “I’m not going to tell you what it is. You’ll have to come see it.”

Two 90-minute performances of Magic World Circus will be at 4:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.

“If people get there one hour before, they have the opportunity to meet the performers,” Dominguez said. “We’ll have a moon bounce [bounce house], face painting, pictures with the stars and all that.”

He said also that families bringing a copy of this article or the ad in today’s newspaper will receive a free ticket for children ages 2-13 years. Tickets are otherwise $12 in advance and $16 at the door for adults and $8 in advance or $12 at the door for older children.
