This year, the North East Texas Choral Society’s Christmas concert on Dec. 7 and 8 will feature a mix of 20th Century holiday favorites and traditional hymns and spirituals.

The group, now in its 21st year, will present its 42nd concert, Hearts Come Home for Christmas, next Saturday and Sunday. For the first time in the group’s history, military veterans their spouses may attend the concert free of charge.

“I also want to include our local first responders—police, fire and EMTs—and their spouses. They serve our community, and we are in their debt,” said executive director Carol Allen. “It’s a small thing we can do to say thank you for everything they do for us. This is our season to give back to those who serve.”

For those who have never been to a Choral Society Christmas concert, Allen promises it “will be one of the best things you do this holiday season.” The musical lineup will appeal to all ages, Allen says, and will feature a duet, “Believe” from The Polar Express, as well as Marlon Chisholm leading “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” A costumed men’s quartet singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” fromToy Story is a feature of the program, and there may even be some special guests, Allen says. “Christmas brings us all the beautiful music in the world, and we’ll have all your favorites, all the songs you know and love. We’re doing it all,” Allen said. The two performances are Saturday, Dec. 7th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8th, at 2 p.m. in the SSHS Auditorium at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center.

Tickets are $15 for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased from any NETCS member, at the downtown Alliance Bank and CNB locations, at Guaranty Bank on Broadway Street or online at www.singerscount.org
