The fall and winter months can be a tough time for everyone, especially those already struggling to get by. Thankfully, for those in Hopkins County, help is available. Participate in CANHelp’s 15th annual Fall Coat and Blanket Drive to ensure everyone in Hopkins County stays warm this winter.
CANHelp and its partners will accept new and gently used coats and blankets of all sizes from now through the beginning of the year.
For 15 years, CANHelp’s annual Fall Coat and Blanket Drive has provided a way for individuals and families to pass along coats, jackets and blankets that are no longer needed.
This year, CANHelp is in need of women’s and children’s coats as well as larger sized coats.
“We reached out to local schools with an offer to assist the children most needing new coats this year, and we plan to purchase at least 150 coats for the kids,” said Shanna Martin, executive director of CANHelp in Sulphur Springs. “So far we are working with SSISD and Como-Pickton but plan to reach out to the other county schools as well.” Also, when items dropping them off, CANHelp representatives wanted to remind donors to be sure the items are clean.
Donations may be dropped off at the following locations in Sulphur Springs:
• CANHelp — 613 Gilmer St.
• Starbucks Coffee – 1320 South Broadway St.
• First Baptist Church — 116 Oak Ave.
• Shannon Oaks Church — 1113 East Shannon Road
• One Church Administrative Offices — 1325 East Shannon Road
• St. James Catholic Church — 297 Texas St.
All donated coats and blankets will be distributed at CANHelp to those in need. Anyone in need of a coat or blanket or who knows of someone who is, contact CANHelp at 903-885-9797 ext. 3.
