Man arrested after driving around barricade during manhunt

A 22-year-old Commerce man was arrested by DPS at 1:28 a.m. Sunday on the Interstate 30 east service road at mile marker 116 after he reportedly drove around a barricade of patrol vehicles blocking the road during a manhunt.

He reportedly stated he had been drinking at a local restaurant and was heading to Commerce from Sulphur Springs.

Trooper Greenway was reportedly unable to perform standard field sobriety tests at the scene due to them being surrounded by patrol cars with emergency lights. The man was asked to blow into a preliminary breath test, which he did. The result was a .110 blood alcohol content.

He was detained for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and transported to the Hopkins County jail, where he was asked to perform standard field sobriety tests and reportedly showed multiple clues. He provided a breath specimen which resulted in a .119 and .110 BAC.

He was booked in on a charge of driving while intoxicated first offense. Bond was set at $1,000, and he was released from jail later that day, arrest and jail reports read.
