The following reports are based on arrests conducted with reports filed by Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Tuesday and included:

Arrests on drugrelated charges

■ A 46-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on FM 1870 at 5:19 p.m. Monday following a report of a semi not maintaining a single lane. The vehicle was located and stopped, and the driver reportedly appeared very nervous and had slurred speech. He gave consent for deputies to search his car, where they allegedly located K2 shake, or synthetic marijuana, in the passenger seat along with the butt of a burnt hand-rolled paper also containing K2. No bond was set, and he was released from jail Tuesday.

Miscellaneous arrests

■ Sami Gordon Sami, age 18, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at Pacific Park at 7:45 a.m. Friday on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Officers were investigating a report of suspicious activity on Lamar Street and observed a tan Kia Spectra abandoned in the roadway. A discussion with the vehicle’s owner revealed the vehicle was stolen. Sami was reportedly located across the road from the vehicle. He reportedly claimed the vehicle belonged to his brother before admitting to taking the car. Officers reportedly located the missing key for the vehicle in Sami’s pocket. Bond was set at $5,000, and he remained in jail as of press time Tuesday.

■ A 21-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was arrested at Walmart at 8:42 a.m. Friday on a charge of theft of property $100-$750 after allegedly passing all points of sale with unpaid merchandise concealed in her purse. Bond was set at $1,000, and she was released from jail Saturday.

■ Nikolaus Kayne Ward, 39, of Campbell was arrested on the I-30 westbound service road in Cumby on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Ward was reportedly observed riding a mini bike with no license plate. Dispatch confirmed the VIN belonged to a vehicle reported stolen out of Garland. Bond was set at $5,000, and Ward was released from jail Sunday.

Transfers, warrants and releases

■ David Joel Dean, 40, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at his job at 10:55 a.m. Friday on a warrant for indecency with a child by contact. Bond was set at $75,000, and he remained in jail Monday.

■ Daishawn Jerome Godbolt, 17, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at the Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office lobby at 2:25 p.m. Friday on a probation violation warrant for a December 2019 charge of engaging in organized criminal activity. No bond was set, and he remained in jail Monday.

■ McKenzie Corey McGill, 42, of Mount Vernon was released from jail Friday on a $10,000 bond. He was booked in earlier that day on a charge of evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle.

■ John Taylor Woods, 24, of Yantis was released from jail Friday on a $10,000 bond. He was booked in last Thursday on a warrant for assault on a pregnant woman.

■ John Vincent Darnell Jones, 19, of Tyler was booked into jail Saturday on Tyler PD warrants for robbery and criminal mischief $2,500-$30,000. Bond was set at $40,000, and he was released from jail Sunday.

■ Michael Lee Harper, 36, of Humble was released from jail Saturday on a $80,000 bond. He was booked in Oct. 4, 2019 on a charge of possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and various warrants for assault, aggravated assault and parole violations.

■ Eva Maria Vargas, 34, of Sulphur Springs was released from jail Monday on a $10,000 bond. She was booked in June 18 on a charge of assault on a member of family or household with intent to impede breathing or circulation.

Animal complaints

• A caller reported someone dumped a deer in front of their house on FM 69 south at 9:25 a.m. Friday;

• Black cow out on CR 1187 at 2:59 p.m. Friday;

• Cow out near Craving’s Fish Fry on FM 275 north in Cumby at 6:30 p.m. Friday;

• A caller reported his neighbor’s dogs were in his yard on West Tarrant Street in Cumby at 6:51 p.m. Saturday;

• Report of a stray dog without food or water on Gaskins Street in Como at 8:07 p.m. Saturday;

• Black cow out on State Highway 11 east at FM 3019 in Como at 8:41 p.m. Saturday;

• A woman reported a snake in her house on CR 1154 at 10:57 p.m. Saturday;

• Black calf out on SH 11 east in Como at 7:10 p.m. Sunday;

• Fifteen cows out on SH 11 east one mile east of Como at 11:51 a.m. Monday;

• Two horses out on FM 1567 west at CR 1151 in Miller Grove at 2:28 p.m. Monday; and

• Cow out on FM 1870 at CR 2309 at 3:01 p.m. Monday.
