The following reports are based on arrests conducted with reports filed by Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement from 5:30 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Sunday and included:

Alcohol-related arrests • A Sulphur Springs man, 27, was arrested 1:51 a.m. Friday on a charge of public intoxication. No bond was set.

Drug-related arrests • Shantel Jane Lewis-Charland, 33, of Cumby was arrested 8:55 p.m. Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana, less than 5 pounds but more than 4 ounces. Lewis-Charland was alleged stopped for a traffic violation, and upon contact, the officer reportedly observed the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Lewis-Charland allegedly advised there was marijuana in the vehicle, and a probable cause search reportedly found a bag with eight mason jars and a large baggie believed to contained alleged marijuana. No bond was set.

• Mary Angela Denton, 51, of Sulphur Springs was arrested 9:16 p.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of less than 1 gram of a penalty group 1 substance. Denton was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation and allegedly displayed signs of a person believed to be under the influence of methamphetamine. Deputies reportedly found a baggie of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and a burned glass pipe inside the vehicle. No bond was set.

• Devonta Qukashawn Brown, 26, of Sulphur Springs was arrested 9:22 p.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of less than 28 grams of a penalty group 3 substance. A reported probable cause search of Brown’s vehicle found alleged Xanax on Brown’s person. No bond was set.

Transfers, warrants and other activity

• Robert Earl Hawkins Jr., 35, of Sulphur Springs was arrested 11:47 p.m. Thursday on Hopkins County warrants for burglary of a habitation and theft of service. Officers were reportedly notified of a disturbance in the 1500 block of Industrial Drive, and Hawkins Jr. allegedly was involved in a fight and reportedly refused EMS attention. A computer check revealed the warrants. Bond was set at $51,000.

• Alexander Garza, 40, of Sulphur Springs was arrested 2:35 a.m. Wednesday on a Hopkins County warrant for a probation violation on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more. No bond was set.

• A Fort Worth woman, 19, was arrested 1:20 p.m. Friday on Department of

Public Safety warrants for driving while intoxicated, first offense, and possession less than 28 grams of a penalty group 3 substance. No bond was set.

• A Como woman, 25, was arrested 7:52 p.m. Saturday on a Hopkins County warrant for assault causing bodily injury. The woman was reportedly involved in a motor vehicle accident, and a records check found the warrant. Bond was set at $5,000.

• An additional charge of insufficient bond on charge of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana was issued Saturday for a 23-year-old Cumby man. No bond was set.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 620 non-emergency phone calls, 126 calls for service and 166 emergency calls. From 5:30 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Sunday, officers filed three offenses and conducted four special patrols, one funeral escort and 35 traffic stops. Eight people were booked in and four people were released from the Hopkins County Jail which held 165 inmates as of 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
