SS woman arrested after traffic stop

Angelica Desiree Washington, 26, of Sulphur Springs was arrested during a traffic stop at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Como and Jefferson Streets on charges of driving while license invalid with previous convictions and possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance.

Sgt. Scott of the Special Crimes Unit reportedly observed a white Mitsubishi Galant traveling on a public roadway with an expired temporary registration and conducted a traffic stop. Washington was reportedly identified as the driver of the vehicle.

During contact, Sgt. Scott reportedly observed Washington reaching in a suspicious manner near her waistband. She was reportedly asked to exit the vehicle and allegedly admitted to having a marijuana roach inside the vehicle. She also reportedly gave consent for a search of the vehicle. Sgt. Scott allegedly located the suspected marijuana roach inside the vehicle.

A records check showed Washington did not have an eligible driver’s license with previous convictions for the same offense.

As Washington was being taken into custody, Sgt. Scott reportedly observed a clear and blue plastic bag containing a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine near the woman’s foot. She reportedly admitted ownership of the suspected methamphetamine, which weighed approximately 0.8 grams including packaging.

Washington’s bond was set at $6,000, and she remained in jail as of press time Friday, according to reports.

Disturbance call ends with 2 arrests

A Sulphur Springs police officer arrested two men for warrants when he responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance at an apartment complex on south League Street at 12:31 a.m. Friday.

The two men arrested were reportedly involved parties in the disturbance. They were both found to have active traffic warrants and were taken into custody.

Both remained in custody as of press time Friday, according to reports.

Jail transfers, other activity

• Blake Edward Radke, 40, of Carrollton was arrested at the Dallas County jail Wednesday on a probation violation on a 2017 charge of possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance. Bond was denied, and he remained in jail as of press time Friday, according to jail reports.

• Stephanie Jo Howse, 31, of Brashear was released from the Hopkins County jail Wednesday on a $20,000 bond. She was booked in Jan. 16 on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child with criminal negligence, according to reports.

• Martin Russell McQueen, 21, of Sulphur Springs was released from the Hopkins County jail Wednesday on a $50,000 bond. He was booked in Oct. 22, 2019 on a charge of manufacture or delivery of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance in a drug-free zone, according to reports.

• Kimberly Beth Tucker, 48, of Carrollton was released from the Hopkins County jail Thursday on a $20,000 bond. She was booked in Dec. 18 on a bond forfeiture warrant, according to reports.

• Galen Jaheim Wright, 18, of Sulphur Springs was released from the Hopkins County jail Thursday on a $20,000 bond. He was booked in Feb. 8 on charges of possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance in a drug-free zone and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair an investigation, according to reports.

• Ricky Lee Wyly II, 41, of Sulphur Springs was released from the Hopkins County jail Thursday on a $50,000 bond. He was booked in Aug. 16, 2019 on an indictment for assault on a member of family or household that impedes circulation, according to reports.

Animal complaints

• Three horses out on FM 1537 at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday;

• Black cow out on Highway 67 Business approximately 1 mile from Clayton Homes at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday;

• Dog with broken leg in middle of FM 1536 at State Highway 19 north in Birthright at 4:43 p.m. Wednesday;

• Pinto horse out on Highway 71 west at State Highway 19 north at 3:57 a.m. Thursday;

• Two cows out on the westbound Interstate 30 service road at mile marker 141 in Saltillo at 10:05 a.m. Thursday. Four black cows were reported out at the same location at 10:51 a.m. Thursday;

• One cow out on FM 2081 in Pickton at 10:43 a.m. Thursday. The cow reportedly went back into the fence on its own at 10:52 a.m. Thursday;

• Report of a dog that was run over but still alive on FM 69 south at County Road 2426 in Como at 1:05 p.m. Thursday; and

• Two calves out on County Road 3562 in Mahoney at 5:58 p.m. Thursday.
