SCU answers disturbance call, arrests 2

A 65-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both of Sulphur Springs, were arrested at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday at their residence by the Sulphur Springs PD Special Crimes Unit.

SCU officers were reportedly at the location in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Lt. Mark Estes reportedly observed Billy Jack Orsburn holding a small, white container in his hand as Orsburn was ordered to open the front door. Orsburn reportedly passed the container to his girlfriend, Destiny Scott, who was reportedly observed holding and attempting to hide the container as officers entered the residence. Scott reportedly stated that narcotics were inside the container, and it was not a weapon.

Upon opening the container, officers reportedly recovered approximately 3.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Both parties were arrested for possession of the methamphetamine. A 3-year-old child who was also inside the residence was turned over to Child Protective Services for further investigation.

Because the residence is located near Travis Primary School in a drug-free zone, the charges were enhanced. Bond was set at $30,000 for each party, and both remained in custody as of press time Wednesday, according to arrest and jail reports.
