The following reports are based on arrests conducted with reports filed by Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Tuesday and included:

Alcohol-related arrests

• A 28-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was arrested 10:42 p.m. Saturday on a charge of driving while intoxicated, first offense. The officer upon contact reportedly observed signs of intoxication, and after field sobriety tests, the officer wrote that they concluded the woman was intoxicated. No bond was set.

• A Sulphur Springs woman, 25, was arrested 12:23 p.m. Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.

Drug-related arrests

• Cory Belz, 36, was arrested 9:41 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of a penalty group 1 controlled substance in a drug free zone and failure to identify. According to reports, Belz gave the name of his brother upon contact with the officer and reportedly showed signs of nervousness. During a consent search of Belz’s vehicle allegedly located suspected marijuana and methamphetamine. No bond was set.

Transfers, warrants and other activity

• A homeless man, 44, was arrested 10:53 a.m. Monday on a charge of criminal mischief causing between $750 and $2,500 in damage. According to reports, the man damaged mirrors inside the bathroom of a Sulphur Springs business. No bond was set.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 870 non-emergency phone calls, 216 calls for service and 206 emergency calls. From 5:30 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Tuesday, officers filed two offenses and conducted eight special patrols, no funeral escorts and 14 traffic stops. Four people were booked into and 11 people released from county jail, which held 166 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
