The following reports are based on arrests conducted with reports filed by Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement from 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Thursday and included:

Alcohol-related arrests

• An Albany, Ky. man, 38, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated 10:12 a.m. Monday. When stopped by a deputy, the man allegedly admitted to drinking two or three beers earlier in the day. No bond was set.

Drug-related arrests

• Jose Alejandro Gomez-Murillo, 21, was arrested 9:30 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of 4-200 grams of a penalty group 2 controlled substance. Officers reportedly received a call that four males allegedly stepped out of a truck and assaulted Gomez-Murillo. Once on scene, officers reportedly observed Gomez-Murillo to be nervous and uncooperative about questions regarding the assault. An officer allegedly spotted a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in Gomez-Murillo’s truck, and a probable cause search reportedly discovered a wax-like substance believed to be THC wax and drug paraphernalia. No bond was set. Gomez-Murrillo later received another charge of violating parole on a charge of evading arrest with a vehicle. Bond was denied on that charge.

• Chelsie Birdsong, 29, of Paris was arrested 1:10 a.m. Wednesday on a Lamar County warrant for manufacturing/delivery of more than 4 gram but less than 400 grams of a penalty group 2 controlled substance and a separate charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. During a traffic stop for an alleged defective tail lamp, the officer reportedly observed the occupants of the vehicle showing signs of intoxication from narcotics. The officer had the occupants step out of the vehicle, and after a reported search of the occupants, the officer allegedly found a burned glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. A probable cause search of the vehicle reportedly found used cigars allegedly containing suspected marijuana. No bond was set.

• Adam Joshua Hodges, 37, of Yantis received an indictment Tuesday for possession of less than 1 gram of a penalty group 1 controlled substance. Bond was set at $10,000.

Transfers, warrants and other activity

• A charge of theft of property valued between $100 and $750 was added Monday for a 30-year-old Dickinson, Texas man. Bond was set at $1,000.

• A Sulphur Springs man, 20, was booked in 6:16 p.m Monday on a charge of forgery of a financial instrument. Bond was set at $15,000.

• Alexander Garza, 40, of Sulphur Springs was arrested 2:35 a.n. Wednesday on a warrant for violation of probation for a charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more. No bond was set.

• Two indictments of indecency with a child were added Tuesday for Jordan Matthew Williams, 23, of Sulphur Springs. Bond was set at $50,000.

• Justin Alexander Carty, 24, of Commerce was arrested Wednesday on three charges of theft of a firearm and a charge of possessing a firearm as a felon. Carty was allegedly located by officers at a residence and was reportedly a subject in multiple thefts. When taken to the HCSO, Carty allegedly admitted to the offenses and reportedly gave permission to search his apartment, and inside officers, according to reports, located a firearm from a case inside a refrigerator. Investigators are still searching for two more reportedly stolen firearms. No bond was set.

• Cordryc Quinnshau Shropshire, 26, of Sulphur Springs was arrested on a charge of theft of a firearm 2:51 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies contacted Shropshire in regards to allegedly stolen guns, and Shropshire reportedly admitted to possessing the related guns. During the exchange of weapons, Shropshire allegedly claimed he owned one of the firearms for over a year, and a records check reportedly showed the firearm to be stolen from 2011 in Hopkins County. No bond was set.

• A Sulphur Springs man, 45, was arrested 3:46 p.m. Wednesday on a Franklin County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of criminal trespass. The officer arrived on scene to reportedly issue the man a criminal trespass citation, but a computer check found the warrant. Bond was set at $5,000.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 396 non-emergency phone calls, 86 calls for service and 114 emergency calls. From 5:30 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Thursday, officers filed 1 offenses and conducted 3 special patrols, 0 funeral escorts and 56 traffic stops. 10people were booked in and 10 people were released from the Hopkins County Jail which held 163 inmates as of 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
