Precinct 2 Constable Bill Allan has announced his intention to seek re-election as the Republican Party candidate in the upcoming primary election next year.

Allan has lived in Hopkins County since 1974. He held various offices in the Young Farmers organization and ultimately served as state vice-president. In addition to running a dairy for several years, Allan also served as president of both the Texas Brown Swiss Association and the Texas Purebred Cattle Breeder’s Association. In 1979, he launched a real estate business specializing in the sale of dairies.

“My product was Hopkins County. It was easy to sell people on the great life here,” Allan said.

He also sat on the Sulphur Bluff school board for 12 years, including one term as president. According to a press release, he has always tried to make a difference whether through church activities, coaching or community leadership.

Allan has been a part of Hopkins County law enforcement for 20 years. He joined the Sheriff’s Posse in 1999, eventually being appointed captain after attending police academy and becoming a certified peace officer. He earned his Master Peace Officer certification in 2009 and served as a reserve deputy and transport officer for the Sheriff’s department until he was elected Constable in January 2013.

According to a press release, his philosophy is showing people respect goes a long way toward getting the job done.

Allen enjoys serving the people of Hopkins County as Constable of Precinct 2, and his previous campaigns have been based on running his office professionally and efficiently and treating people with respect, a press release read. He feels he has kept these promises and wants to continue serving Hopkins County in the same manner, a press release read.
