Marcus Aaron Williams, 31, of Winnsboro was arrested during a traffic stop on State Highway 11 east between Pickton and Winnsboro at 3:54 p.m. Monday on a charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair an investigation.

Deputies were parked on the shoulder of SH 11 east when they reportedly observed a silver Chevrolet truck pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. They conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Williams, who allegedly denied consent to search the truck.

Deputies advised they would call a K-9 officer to the scene.

Williams allegedly began to approach the truck despite deputies’ commands to stay away from it. Deputies reportedly observed him enter the vehicle and make a throwing motion from the passenger seat. Williams was detained.

Deputies reportedly located a white capsule-shaped tablet in the roadway, which Williams allegedly admitted to throwing from the truck. A second tablet was located on the roadway on the driver’s side. During a probable cause search, deputies also reportedly located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine between the driver’s seat and center console inside the vehicle.

Williams’s bond was set at $10,000, and he was released from jail Tuesday.
