AT&T cell phone provider is currently experiencing a nationwide network service outage, according to the company, and this may affect those with the provider’s ability to call 911 in a time of need.

Several Northeast Texas police departments have already put out warnings that this may affect their service, according to social media.

Irving Police reissued AT&T’s warning for Tarrant County 911 Tuesday, which warns that if a user needs to reach 911 from a cell phone, you may need to use a different provider.

Landline phones or phones with another provider, said Tarrant County, are unaffected.

Paris police issued the same warning Tuesday, stating “If you use a cell phone to call 911, it may ring into the direct line or not at all.”

They advised callers who needed 911 services to call in to the police non-emergency line. At 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, an update posted on the Paris Police Department website stated the issue had been fixed.

According to an AT&T release, multiple Dallas Fort Worth communities were also affected, including Frisco, Keller, North Richland Hills, and South-lake. Those communities were also told to call police non-emergency lines.

AT&T sent a response around 8:15 a.m. telling those DFW communities that the problem had been resolved.

Hopkins County did not experience any 911 interruptions to the current knowledge of Sheriff’s Office personnel, according to public relations officer Angela Price.
