Texas A&M-Commerce has announced that it will not have a football season in the 2020-2021 year and will prepare for the fall in 2021. This decision comes a few weeks after the Lone Star Conference announced on Aug. 7 that their football season would be pushed back to the spring.

TAUMC plans to bring back all of their seniors who want to return on scholarship. The Lions schedule for the 2021 season features seven home games, including games against Midwestern State, West Florida, Azusa Pacific, Saginaw Valley State, Western New Mexico, UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico.

The Lions went 11-3 a season ago and advanced to the third round of the Division II playoffs. Texas A&M Commerce hopes that their extra time to practice and prepare for the 2021 season will help them get back to postseason play.
