Charges were dropped against two men from Lamar County in a racially charged dragging murder case that had been scheduled to be tried in Sulphur Springs. The two white men, Shannon Finley and Charles Crostley, accused of killing a black man, 24-year-old Brandon McClelland, were released from jail in Paris after murder charges were dismissed, the prosecutor said.

Hopkins County Sheriff Lewis Tatum said investigators were focusing on identifying vandals who went on a rampage in Weaver Cemetery. He said there were 60-70 grave markers knocked over and that an American flag had been burnt.
