Lil 4's McKenzie donation

Lil 4’s volunteers unload a trailer full of furniture donated by Greg and Michelle McKenzie of Atlanta, Ga.

Letitia Conliffe’s trip to New York City keeps paying off.

Conliffe, the president of Lil 4’s Kids Club, went to the Big Apple this summer to appear on ABC-TV’s popular morning talk show “The View.” Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines, co-hosts of the episode, wound up surprising her with $60,000 in donations from entrepreneur business owners sitting in the audience during the episode.

From there, news spread. Former Harlem Globetrotter and Baylor Bear Aundre Branch, who led a basketball camp as part of a back-to-school event last week, caught the episode.

“I saw her story on the video from The View. I researched her, and I called. We talked a good hour and a half,” he said.

Branch said that he was sold. So he and his wife brought up 50 boxes of clothing and shoes.

“This is so wonderful,” Conliffe said.

And now, further assistance has come all the way from Atlanta, Ga.

Alicia Valentine, vice president of Lil 4’s, said that Greg and Michelle McKenzie also saw the episode of “The View.” They had sent some smaller weekly donations, then made one large one.

“We received five bedrooms worth of furniture, toys, school supplies, car seats and clothing,” Valentine said. “It’s a godsend with more to come.”
