Basketball season is officially here with the Wildcats and Lady Cats in game action Saturday.
The Lady Cats have been going through drills under new head Brittany Tisdell.
“Practices are going great. The girls are starting to get into a groove and catching on to my pacing and practice. Our objective is to win and work as a team and look like one unit,” Tisdell said.
The Lady Cats had the game cancelled and scrimmaged Mount Vernon Saturday morning.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 15 in the state, will be in the Cowtown Showdown at North Crowley Saturday. The junior varsity plays at 1 p.m. and the varsity at 4 p.m., both teams face Plano East at Crowley High School.
Sulphur Springs scrimmaged Tuesday at Longview with coach Clark Cipoletta pleased with the outing.
“Longview scrimmage was a good opportunity for the varsity and sub-varsity to play a very good, athletic team. The scrimmage has its up and downs. We did some things well, and it showed us several things you needed to work on,” Cipoletta said.
“We are excited about the first real game coming up this Saturday. We are not ready yet but will be come Saturday. Plano East is a very athletic and good team that wants to push the pace and pressure you all over the floor,” Cipoletta added.
The varsity boys home game is Nov. 13 against Rockwall-Heath. The ninth, JV and varsity start at 5 p.m.
