Netters finish 3-3 in district

Oct. 29, 2008 - LONGVIEW — The Sulphur Springs tennis team narrowly missed a berth in regional play according to coach James Lovett.
The squad lost 10-9 at Longview in recent district play to finish the fall season with a 3-3 mark.
�We had a great year, we hope to be even better next season,� Lovett said. �We had a great effort and all of our players return except two players.�
Boys singles
- Robert Stevens, Sulphur Springs, defeated Brandon Bowles, 6-2, 6-1.
- Josh Stoltenberg, Sulphur Springs, over Aaron Dobbins, 6-0, 7-5.
- Luke Penny, Sulphur Springs, defeated Drew Alexander, 6-1, 6-2.
- Garrett Swatsell, Sulphur Springs, lost to Sean Crider, 6-2, 2-6, 4-6.
- Dakota Painter, Sulphur Springs, fell to Matthew Cole, 6-7, 6-0, 3-6.
- Dillon Smith, Sulphur Springs,lost to Connor Erickstad, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6.
Boys doubles
- Swatsell/Penny, Sulphur Springs, lost to Bowles/Dobbins, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6.
- Stoltenberg/Painter, Sulphur Springs, defeated Erickstad/Alexander, 6-4, 6-4.
