Lady Panthers shut out Cumby

April 4, 2008 - BIRTHRIGHT - Chastin Smiddy fired a one-hitter for the North Hopkins Lady Panthers, and Crissy Hall broke up a scoreless tie with a two-run double in the fourth inning of a 4-0 victory over Cumby on Thursday.
Smiddy fanned seven and walked one in pitching the full seven innings. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate and scored a run.
Along with Hall, Courtney Loper and Chelsea Hampton each had a hit and scored a run. Hall also had four assists and one put-out at second base.
"We played a very good defensive game to stay in the game and wait on an opportunity to score," said NH head coach Jim Westbrook. The Lady Panthers are now 14-7 overall, 4-0 in District 17-A.
Lindsey Lemon went the distance in the circle for Cumby, fanning five and walking two while giving up five hits.
