SS freshman fall to Horn
From Staff Reports
Mar. 28, 2007 - In a game shortened due to lightening and rain in the top of the fifth inning on Monday, the freshman Wildcats dropped a 3-0 decision to class 5A Mesquite Horn.
The SSHS bats were unable to get much going on offense, recording only two hits and two walks over four innings. Their best chance to score came in the bottom of the third after Shelby Williamson and Conner Brackhahn drew walks. Jake Spataro followed with an infield single. But with two outs, the Cats were unable to bring anyone home.
In the forth inning, Colby Suggs lead off the inning with a double to left field but was later tagged out at home to keep SS off the score board.
Wildcat pitcher Bryce Jenkins battled much of the game to keep it within reach, recording six strikeouts in the process. Additionally, catcher Jake Spartaro threw out 2-of-3 potential base stealers in the game.
The freshmen return to district play on Friday, hosting Paris at 4:30 p.m.
