C-P students head for UIL regionals

Apr. 13, 2007 - Three Como-Pickton students left this morning for Tyler, where they will compete in the Regional Academic University Interscholastic League meet.
The group is composed of two sophomores, Madalyn Russell and Lanequia Bryant, and one senior, Pamela Baxley.
Baxley leads the region bound UIL squad, qualifying for regionals with four first place ranks in all four journalism events — editorial writing, headline writing, feature writing and news writing — at the district meet. Madalyn Russell will compete in extemporaneous speaking with her second place district rank. Lanequia Bryant follows in her sister’s footsteps with her third place district rank in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Russell and Bryant also qualified as alternates for poetry and extemporaneous speaking respectfully.
�All of these students are ready for the regional competitions held this year in Tyler. Congratulations and good luck!� said Jackie Russell on behalf of school officials.
