Dec. 30, 2005 - Jason Cunningham of Dike filed Thursday as candidate for the Republican nomination for Hopkins County Judge in the March primary election. Cunningham, in a brief telephone interview Thursday, said he moved to Hopkins County about three years ago from Hunt County. The Republican candidate said he has served as a member of the Commerce City Council for nine years and was unsuccessful in a bid for Hunt County commissioner four years ago, losing by 60 votes. He married the former Sally Flippin of Sulphur Bluff and became a Hopkins County resident three years ago. The winner in the Republican March primary election will face off against the Democratic nominee in November. The filing deadline to file for a place on the primary election ballot is 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2. Hopkins County Republican Party Chairman Chris Brown said he would be available until the deadline by calling 903-348-2027. |
